Combined Probus Club of Torquay Surfcoast Inc
Combined Probus Club of Torquay Surf Coast Inc.
Who we are
The first Australian Probus Clubs were established by Rotary International in 1976. The principal object of each club is to advance intellectual , cultural and social interests among adults who have retired from the full-time workforce.
The Combined Probus Club of Torquay Surf Coast Inc. was formed in 2006 and quickly attracted strong membership from Torquay and nearby communities. There are 110 active members and the waiting list is fully subscribed.
In addition to regular monthly meetings, members enjoy a broad social program through guest speakers, interest groups, day trips and longer holiday tours.
The club strongly endorses the Probus theme of ‘Friendship, Fellowship and Fun'.

CLASSIC FILM GROUP
At the last meeting Mike thought he would not be available to organise the September evening, however he will be back in town, so the show will go on!
Join the group at The Lions Village Centre at 7.30 pm.Tuesday 14 September.
Our movie is that wonderful 1952 MGM musical satire of show business and Hollywood, "Singing In The Rain". It stars Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor and Cyd Charisse and the show stoppers "Singing In The Rain", "You Were Meant For Me","Make'em Laugh" and the amazing, surrealistic Busby Berkeley-type extravaganza "Broadway Ballet".
In the book "1001 Movies....." David Stratton says it is his favourite movie of all time. There will be lots to chat about after the film over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee!
Please let Mike know if you are going to the show.

ON FOOT EXPLORERS
Friday 3 September is our next date for walking. As the weather has been so awful let's hope we are blessed with another lovely few hours of sunlight as we were last time.
It will be low tide at 11am that day so if the weather is OK, we will enjoy an extended beach walk. The suggestion is to start at Cosy Corner at 9.30 and walk to Bird Rock and back. Yes it's a long way but such a lovely walk. If we get too tired we will just turn around and come back before we get there. We would need to go over the board walk at the surf beach and then back down onto the beach after going over Rocky Point. By the time we get to Bird Rock the tide should be almost out and we might be lucky enough to be able to get round the corner to Carleen's favourite set of rocks. We could treat ourselves to a cuppa at the Beach Front Cafe afterwards.
In summary, meeting at Cosy Corner at 9.30. Please let Carleen know if you are able to be part of this outing.
